Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes Peeled and grated
  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup sour cream For mixing and for serving
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions or chives
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • to taste Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel the potatoes and grate them using a box grater or food processor.
  • Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out the excess moisture.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, combine the squeezed potatoes, grated cheese, sour cream, flour, chopped onions, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika (if using). Mix everything until well combined.

Shaping

  • Take a small amount of the mixture and shape it into small patties or balls, about 2 inches in diameter. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully place a few of the potato shapes into the skillet. Fry them in batches, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  • Serve your savory potato snacks warm with sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Don’t skip drying the potatoes for a crispy texture. Adjust seasoning based on personal taste.
